I'm João Paulo — a product-minded software engineer with 7+ years of experience specializing in the Laravel ecosystem. I build custom software for businesses and startups, from initial concept through to production deployment and ongoing maintenance.
I see code as a means to an end. I prioritize business value over over-engineering — the right solution is the one that ships, scales, and solves the problem. Every project gets my full attention across the entire stack: backend, frontend, infrastructure, and design. No handoffs, no miscommunication.
Currently, I'm the AI Lead at Voltimum, where I own everything AI — from building intelligent workflows to integrating LLMs into production systems. Before that, I worked at Patchstack, where I led the complete re-architecture of a Vulnerability Database API using a Strangler Fig migration pattern — shipping iteratively without downtime. At Dreamshaper, I helped consolidate fragmented Symfony microservices into a cohesive Laravel monolith and built mission-critical internal tools.
When I'm not building software for clients, I'm building my own products — like Apex Scout, a motorsport platform for track day enthusiasts across Europe.
